Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) has been identified as the new service provider for residential Blue Cart recycling program as part of the ongoing efforts to improve recycling and waste diversion in Chicago. The three year contract will open the door to LRS and the City to try to make significant changes to the recycling system.
This will impact the part of the 32nd Ward that is west of the river; east of the river will continue to be picked up by the Department of Streets and Sans (DSS). The transition will take place beginning in June. DSS is working with partners to ensure a smooth transition in June and no service interruptions are expected.
