May 9, 2025 Update - Lincoln Park Sewer Main Project #7158

Status: The first steps of restoration for the project has already started on Janssen, Altgeld, and Greenview. The concrete on Greenview and Altgeld should be completed next week followed in the next couple of weeks by the asphalt.

The concrete work on Wayne and Lakewood should start by May 19. There is still outstanding underground work on Schubert; restoration will start there once this is completed. Repaving is expected to be completed in early-mid June.

In 2023, IDOT began rehabilitating the Kennedy Expressway (Interstate 90/94), from the Edens Expressway (I-94) junction to Ohio Street.
The estimated $169 million project consists of rehabilitating 36 bridges and the Reversible Lane Access Control system, replacing overhead sign structures, installing new signage and modernized LED lights, pavement patching, and structural painting.
The work has taken place over three consecutive construction seasons. The project is now into its final stage.
The Kennedy Expressway officially opened in November 1960, with the last major rehabilitation completed in 1994. The project will improve safety, traffic flow and reliability for the more than 275,000 motorists who use the expressway each day.

Zoning & Development
The 32nd Ward regularly has requests for zoning changes. Making decisions about zoning can significantly alter the look and feel of a neighborhood as well as increase density. These decisions can have a large impact on residents, property values, city services, and lasts for decades. Please note that if you want to request a zoning change or special use, follow these steps:
-
Return forms to Paul Sajovec, Chief of Staff, at paul@ward32.org
-
Your application will be reviewed and the Chief of Staff will follow up with you
-
All projects require community input and advice before a final determination by the Alderman and Planning Department.
